Lisette Loera
Facility Manager - Certified Recovery Specialist
Lisette graduated from the University of Colorado with a BA in Integrative Physiology with an emphasis in Nutrition and Exercise Science in 2007. Her interest in human body function and wellness prompted her to obtain a personal training certification through the American College of Sports Medicine. She has also completed coursework through the Institutes of Human Potential in Philadelphia, PA.
Lisette has extensive experience working with children and adults with spinal cord and brain injuries, and numerous other disabilities as well. She gained a wealth of knowledge working at one of Denver's few Level 1 trauma hospitals within the acute care unit, NICU and rehabilitation department. Additional work experience ranges from working as a behavioral therapist for children with Autism and severe behavior issues to individuals suffering from various forms of paralysis like cerebral palsy and ALS. She has hands-on experience with alternative therapy modalities such as Thera Suit, Theratogs, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and various Intensive Therapy programs; Musgutova, Anat Benial Method and IAHP
Lisette is passionate about helping clients that come from diverse social, economic, and psychological backgrounds. She is bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, good eats, running and taking bike rides with her family.

Kyle Yamauchi
Assistant Manager - Certified Recovery Specialist
Kyle graduated from San Diego State University in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Pre-Physical Therapy with an emphasis in Rehabilitative Science. Hired as an aide in early 2011, he achieved his certification as an SCI Recovery Specialist and has progressed to be one of the most revered Specialists at the Carlsbad facility. Known for his innovative and outside-of-the-box workouts, Kyle looks forward to bringing his experience and education to those attending the San Francisco facility.
On his time off, Kyle enjoys going to the dog beach with his pet iguana, Steve. Eating orange Starburst so he can save the wrappers to make origami dinosaurs; and rapping in Pig-Latin to beats by Tupac and Notorious B.I.G.

Samantha Okumura
Certified Recovery Specialist
Samantha graduated from the University of Colorado in 2013 with a Bachelor's Degree in Integrative Physiology with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology. She is also an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and an avid traveler having visited Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Japan this past year.
She got her first taste of SCI Recovery as an intern at SCI Recovery Project in Denver, CO and looks forward to being a part of Project Walk and helping others in their pursuit of wellness and recovery.
Samantha has also completed her Yoga Teacher Certification and enjoys hiking with her dog Marley, photography, and cooking. She is also secretly plotting to steal her co-worker Kyle's pet iguana so that she might raise him as her cooking companion.
Justin Sagisi
Certified Recovery Specialist
Justin graduated from San Jose State University in 2011 with a B.S. in Kinesiology with a concentration in pre-professional. His interest in helping others with disabilities sparked when he first watched his grandfather’s in-home rehab sessions. Since then, he has worked as a physical therapy aide at Milpitas Physical Therapy Clinic and volunteered as a rehab aide at the Veterans Affair Hospital Poly-Trauma unit in Palo Alto. He was also an assistant high school varsity football coach where he was able to teach and demonstrate different aspects of football and fitness.
In his spare time, he enjoys weight training, playing roller hockey and basketball, and obsessively journaling his daily food and drink intake while watching almost any sport on TV with his maltese-poodle, Fred.

Anthony "Tony" Khauv
Certified Recovery Assistant
Tony graduated in 2011 with an Associates of Science degree in Fire Science and EMT. Currently he is a student at San Jose State and will be graduating at the end of 2015 with a Bachelors in Kinesiology, Movement Science emphasis. His passion for working with people grew through his 4 year’s of experience as a licensed amateur boxer at Milpitas Boxing.
Tony has trained children and adults and understands that communication between a trainer and his clients is just as important as hard work and determination. He makes it a priority that his clients are able to comfortably communicate with him regarding their recovery program. Being responsible for another person's growth and success is the reason Tony has excelled at Project Walk and providing the best experience possible.
Tony continual enhances his understanding of paralysis recovery through his own personal improvement in body awareness and nutrition. In his free time he enjoys working on cars and racing at the track. He is a growing entrepreneur, having owned an automotive online business for 6 years now. He enjoy movies particularly the Rocky series and can endlessly talk about cars or boxing with his clients.
